The Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution (BCDR) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Shanghai International Arbitration Center (SHIAC), signed on the sidelines of Singapore Convention Week 2026, taking place in Singapore from 25 to 29 August 2026, and bringing together practitioners from across the arbitration field.
The MoU was signed by Mr. Ahmed Husain, BCDR's Chief Executive Officer, and Ms. Weijun Wang, Secretary General of SHIAC,
Through the partnership, BCDR and SHIAC will jointly develop, in-person, online, or hybrid, events and programs to deepen institutional links between arbitration communities in the Gulf and Asia-Pacific. The agreement also opens the door to knowledge-sharing between the two centers and encourages practitioners from each institution to take part in the other's events.
Ahmed Husain said that the partnership with the Shanghai International Arbitration Center confirms BCDR's commitment toa advancing the global arbitration landscape, noting that combining resources and expertise can lead to better service for the international business community and reinforces the regions' position as a credible arbitration hub.
Ms. Weijun Wang commented: "This Memorandum of Understanding marks an important step in building closer ties between the arbitration communities of Asia-Pacific and the Gulf region. SHIAC is committed to fostering greater cooperation, knowledge exchange, and mutual understanding with our partners at BCDR, and we look forward to working together to support practitioners and provide even greater value to the international business community we serve."
