Appointment of new Board of Trustees

The Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution (BCDR) is pleased to announce the appointment of its new Board of Trustees by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the Kingdom of Bahrain, on August 27, 2024. This appointment was officially published in the Official Gazette on August 29, 2024 (in Arabic). The newly appointed Board of Trustees will be chaired by Mr. Ali Abdullah Al Aradi, a highly respected legal professional with over 27 years of experience in law and alternative dispute resolution. The Board comprises a distinguished group of international experts which are as follows:

  • Sir Christopher Greenwood GBE, CMG, KC, international arbitrator specializing in inter-State and investor-State cases
  • Tom Sikora, Manager of International Commercial and Investment Arbitration for Exxon Mobil Corporation.
  • Meg Kinnear, founding member of LKDR LLC and former Secretary-General of ICSID.
  • Reza Mohtashami, experienced advocate and arbitrator specializing in emerging markets.
  • Darius Khambatta, Senior Counsel and former Advocate General for Maharashtra, India.
  • Ameena AlOnaisi, Executive Director at the Bahrain Economic Development Board.
  • Aysha Mutaywea, Managing Partner of Mena Chambers Bahrain and experienced international arbitration practitioner.
  • Marike Paulsson, Legal Advisor at the Economic Development Board and Secretary General of the Council for International Commercial Dispute Resolution of the Kingdom of Bahrain

The new Board members bring a wealth of experience and expertise in international arbitration, mediation, and other forms of dispute resolution. Their diverse backgrounds and global perspectives will further enhance BCDR's position as a leading dispute resolution institution in the region and internationally.

The term of office for the Board of Trustees is three years.
