Co-organized with the Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution (BCDR-AAA), the 13th Biennial International Federation of Commercial Arbitration Institutions (IFCAI) Conference took place on March 23, 2015 in Manama, Bahrain. The event attracted over 160 leading academic figures and arbitration experts from more than 24 countries.

On the evening of 22 March 2015, the Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution (BCDR-AAA) held a ceremony at Shaikh Ebrahim Bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Center for Culture and Research, and a celebratory dinner at Bu Zaboon House at Muharraq City in Bahrain, to honor a lifetime of achievement by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Sadek El-Kosheri, a renowned Egyptian judge and arbitrator.

On 16 March 2015, the Chief Executive Officer of the Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution (BCDR-AAA), Nassib G. Ziadé, led a conversation with Jack Lang, the President of the Paris-based Arab World Institute and former French Minister of Culture and Education

The International Federation of Commercial Arbitration Institutions (IFCAI) hosts an international conference every two years at a different venue. We are pleased to announce that the forthcoming Biennial IFCAI Conference will be held for the first time ever in an Arab Gulf country, namely Bahrain, on 23 March 2015, in association with the Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution (BCDR-AAA). A second group of students participated in the Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution’s (BCDR-AAA) International Arbitration Training Program on 6 December 2014.

The Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution (BCDR-AAA), in collaboration with leading Arab and international arbitration experts, launched on 6 September 2014 a new International Arbitration Training Program. 

The Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution (BCDR-AAA) has launched a new publication, the BCDR International Arbitration Review, which is published by Wolters Kluwer. The Review is edited by Prof. Nassib G. Ziadé, CEO of the BCDR-AAA. The Review’s Advisory Board, which comprises leading practitioners and academics in the field of international arbitration, includes Dr. Mohamed Abdel Raouf, Shaikha Haya Bint Rashid Al Khalifa, Mr. Essam Al Tamimi, Dr. Yas Banifatemi, Prof. Laurence Boisson de Chazournes, Mr. Lawrence Boo, Dr. Olufemi Elias, Dr. Hamzah Haddad, Prof. Azzedine Kettani, Mr. Makhdoom Ali Khan, Prof. Carolyn B. Lamm, Prof. Francisco Orrego Vicuña, Dr. Antonio R. Parra, Prof. Marike Paulsson and Dr. Georgios Petrochilos.

From 3 to 5 May 2014, an International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA) dialogue on the 1958 New York Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards brought together judges from the appeal and cassation courts of 13 Arab countries and formulated recommendations to improve the recognition and enforcement of foreign arbitral awards in the Arab world. The dialogue was organized by Prof. Nassib G. Ziadé, CEO of the Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution (BCDR-AAA), and Prof. Marike Paulsson, a member of ICCA’s Judiciary Committee.

On December 4 2013, the Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution (BCDR-AAA) and the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) concluded a Cooperation Agreement in The Hague. The Chamber’s CEO Mr. Nassib Ziade and the PCA Deputy Secretary-General Mr. Brooks Daly signed the Agreement at a signing ceremony that took place at the Peace Palace.

The Board of Trustees of the Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution (BCDR-AAA) announced the appointment of Nassib G. Ziadé as the Chamber’s new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective 1 October 2013.
