BCDR CEO to speak on diversity and inclusion in international arbitration at 15th Annual ITA-ASIL conference in Washington, D.C.

On 4 April 2018, Professor Nassib G. Ziadé, Chief Executive Officer of the Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution (BCDR-AAA), will participate in a panel discussion on possible solutions to the lack of diversity and inclusion in international arbitration at the 15th Annual ITA-ASIL Conference. The conference, co-organized by the Institute for Transnational Arbitration (ITA) and the American Society of International Law (ASIL), will take place in Washington, D.C. According to conference organizers, “[t]his will be the first major international conference to tackle this issue, with the ambitious aim of shaping the conversation and providing practical, actionable ideas to effect positive change.”

The panel on which Prof. Ziadé will be speaking, “A Critical Look at Solutions,” will address the role of diversity in ensuring the legitimacy of international arbitration, efforts made thus far by stakeholders to address the diversity deficit, and potential solutions to the problem from the perspectives of a practitioner, academic, and institution executive. Moderated by Caroline S. Richard, Partner at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Washington, D.C., the panel will include Lucy Greenwood, independent arbitrator at GreenwoodArbitration, Houston; Catherine A. Rogers, Professor at Pennsylvania State University Dickinson School of Law and the School of International Affairs; and BCDR-AAA’s CEO Nassib G. Ziadé.
