BCDR publishes French version of draft sports arbitration rules
The Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution (BCDR) has today made available on its website the French version of its draft sports arbitration rules. As with the English and Arabic versions, BCDR invites comments from interested parties on the French draft rules. Comments should be submitted no later than 29 December 2021 by e-mail to [email protected].
The French version of the rules was prepared by Lebanese attorney, Fady Béchara, and BCDR Senior Case Manager, Salim Sleiman, under the oversight of BCDR’s Chief Executive Officer, Nassib G. Ziadé.
The adoption of a set of arbitration rules for resolving sports disputes is a welcome addition to sports law and arbitration in Bahrain. The draft rules are in line with best practices in sports arbitration, drawing inspiration from global leaders in the field, while also being substantially based on the 2017 BCDR Rules of Arbitration. With the aim of attracting a wide range of sports arbitration cases locally and internationally, the sports arbitration rules will eventually be adopted in Arabic, English and French, with all three versions being equally authoritative.
